Business Analysis Training Courses for Business Analysts leading to the ISEB Certificate and Diploma

Weekend Courses

Weekend courses are particularly popular for contractors, consultants, and other busy professionals—perhaps your organisation will pay but can’t spare you? We offer friendly but professional, flexible business analysis training in convenient locations.

Metadata Training's weekend Business Analysis courses are run in either Central London or in Central Manchester. We normally start at 9:00am on Saturday finishing at 7:00pm. Sunday runs from 9am to 6:00pm

Unlike some courses, we provide refreshments and lunch – normally a light sandwich lunch. Please tell us if you have any special dietary requirements.

You will receive a copy of the British Computer Society book “Business Analysis” edited by Debra Paul and Don Yeates. This is sent you as pre-reading when you register – we recommend specific chapters – and will soon be supplying on-line MCQs to test your understanding. The book provides a really useful background to the Business Analysis Essentials and the Requirements Engineering courses – there is also useful material for the other courses. We also send you our course case study, a sample exam, and the weekend timetable – this all ensures you are really well-prepared for an intensive, but fun, weekend.

We cover exactly the same material as in our weekday 3 day courses. How?
Through pre-reading, two intensive days with short breaks – however still highly interactive with lots of practical case study sessions, and post-course supported exam preparation.

We provide a full set of course notes, including 2 case studies. One case study is used to illustrate business analysis examples, and for the other you will develop answers in small teams throughout the course. The  same illustrative case study is used through all our courses so you will build up a picture of how these business analysis techniques can fit together to form a full business analyst’s toolkit.  After each practical session we supply a suggested answer, compare it with your answer, and discuss alternatives.

You normally take the ISEB Practitioner Certificate Exam about a week after the course – this gives you time to consolidate your knowledge and try out our practice ISEB exam papers. We run these exams at our office in North London. You can arrange these with us on weekdays, evenings or weekends – your lecturer will agree times with the group during the course.  If you are taking our Manchester course then we usually run these at 6pm in the Manchester Ramada Hotel on the Friday before the following course (if not convenient you can come to London – our office is only 20 minutes from Kings Cross). We can arrange for you to take the exam immediately after the weekend course if you prefer – but most delegates like to have a bit more time.

The following four courses are currently offered:

After delegates have passed these four individual certificate exams, they are eligible to progress to the next level -- the ISEB Diploma in Business Analysis. This is examined by a 50 minute oral conducted by 2 BCS appointed examiners. We provide a one-day overview / preparation class for this.

In the near future we will offer:

  • Modelling Business Processes using BPMN (available early 2010 – for the ISEB Certificate in Modelling Business Processes)

  • Systems Modelling using UML (available early 2010 - for the ISEB Certificate in Systems Modelling)
